  HELLENIC - AID, Greek's International Development Cooperation Department, is responsible for development programmes, humanitarian aid, support of existing and newly founded NGOs, and educational and information activities promoting voluntary service. It is an independent, organic section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  HELLENIC-AID development programmes are intended to combat poverty by enhancing the living standard and contributing to improve of local development potential.

  HELLENIC-AID names the following priority sectors for co-financed development programmes: social sector, basic education, vocational training involving young people and women in particular; environmental protection, agricultural growth, housing, and material and technical infrastructure; sectors producing income and substantially reducing the level of poverty; small infrastructure and local business initiatives aiming at the promotion of employment; human rights, gender equality, democratic institutions, strengthening of local communities and participatory decentralized growth.

  HELLENIC-AID supports development activities and programmes, also in form of a contribution to co-financing. Local ownership is emphasized.

  Vocational Training is one of the Greek priority sectors for co-financed development programmes. A focus lies on the support of young people and women.
