Passing of former UNEVOC colleague and Acting Director (2010) L. Efison Munjanganja
Bonn, November 2017
The Head and staff of UNESCO-UNEVOC are sad to hear about the premature death of our former colleague L. Efison Munjanganja in July this year.
L. Efison Munjanganja was a member of the UNEVOC family from 2006 to 2010. He was responsible for the UNEVOC Network before he became Acting Director of UNESCO-UNEVOC from April to December 2010, when he retired from UNESCO. A Zimbabwean national, he had many years of professional experience in TVET, including in the preparation of teachers, technical management development and policy and planning of education and regional development. He obtained this experience during several decades of work in public, quasi-public, and private sector institutions, regional cooperation and development and international agencies in Zimbabwe, Southern Africa and Asia and the Pacific. Before joining UNEVOC, Efison worked as a Programme Specialist in technical and vocational education at the UNESCO Asia & Pacific Regional Bureau for Education in Bangkok.
Educated in colleges in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the United States, he held a doctorate in Social Science Education from the University of Georgia. His master’s and doctoral studies at that university concentrated on curriculum and instruction and research in education. He was the author of several published articles.
Mr Munjangana will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to work with him, for his competence, courtesy and his friendly personality.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his family.
