Egyptian delegation visits UNESCO-UNEVOC

A delegation from the Egyptian National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) visited UNESCO-UNEVOC on 14 April 2015. The delegation was led by the President of NAQAAE Dr Youhansen Eid and the Vice President Dr Alaa Abdelghaffar.

The visit aimed to establish closer contact with UNESCO-UNEVOC and explore opportunities for cooperation in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), in particular with regard to quality assurance and the use of ICT.

Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC Shyamal Majumdar emphasized the increasing importance of TVET in the global context and explained the UNESCO Strategy for TVET which aims to support Member States in transforming their TVET systems.

Jessica Davis, UNEVOC coordinator of TAFE Directors Australia (TDA), currently on loan to UNESCO-UNEVOC, presented the regulatory framework and quality assurance in the Australian TVET system.

The delegation from NAQAAE Egypt seized the opportunity to raise questions about how NAQAAE can learn more from UNESCO and UNESCO-UNEVOC strategies and approaches to fulfil its role as the national quality assurance authority in transforming the TVET system in Egypt. The discussion also addressed lessons learnt from the Australian experience and the potential contribution by NAQAAE to UNESCO-UNEVOC's online services.
