European Commission representatives visit UNESCO-UNEVOC

On 19 January 2016, Norbert Schöbel (Team leader – Skills for the Young) and Maria Todorova (Policy officer) from the European Commission’ Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion visited UNESCO-UNEVOC to discuss actions and priorities for 2016, with a view to considering future potential collaborations.

During the meeting, attended by UNESCO-UNEVOC staff Katerina Ananiadou (Programme Specialist), Kenneth Barrientos (Programme Officer), Jens Liebe (Consultant) and Jean Hautier (Programme Assistant), Maria Todorova and Norbert Schöbel presented an overview of the European Commission’s projects in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET). This includes the Actions for Youth and Apprenticeships, which through the European Alliance for Apprenticeships aims to improve the quality of apprenticeships in the European Union (EU), and the ongoing work of the Working Group on VET.

The meeting also was an opportunity for the European Commission representatives to become familiar with UNESCO-UNEVOC’s various activities, including the UNEVOC Network and the online resources.
