Mr Osama Al-Duaij, Assistant Deputy Director General for training at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) and the general coordinator of the conference, said that PAAET is moving forward in preparing and launching the first technical education and vocational training conference in Kuwait entitled "TVET: Challenges and Opportunities".

The Conference is held under the patronage of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from 31 March to 2 April 2014 at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa. The Conference aims to exchange experiences and discuss strategies of Technical Education and Vocational Training development in light of global changes that occurred in the labor market. In addition, participants will present important international experiences and the latest educational and training methods.

The Organizing Committees are currently working on the completion of all required procedures for launching the conference and evaluating the research papers and studies that will be presented during the three day conference programme. Several international, regional, and national experts and leaders will take part in the Conference, including representatives of the UNEVOC Regional Network in the Arab region.

Mr Al-Duaij mentioned that the sessions will provide useful knowledge and skills to the conference attendants. The provision of knowledge will be through the sharing of practical experiences in research and training projects in various specialties. This process of sharing (and, later, implementation) will add to the attendants' professionalism and skills. Many instructors at PAAET (the organizing establishment) will attend the conference. It is hoped that their attendance and the implementation of what they learned will positively reflect on their practice and, consequently, on the country.

Mr Al-Duaij added that this first conference in Kuwait will be attended by local, regional and international high-level leaders and officials in the field of education and training.

The conference themes are: training programmes; trainers and educators; implementation of training programs using modern technologies; and TVET and the labour market.

Mr Al-Duaij also said that there will be an exhibition held alongside the conference. The exhibition will house modern training equipment from many international companies. The equipment is used in PAAET institutes for training.
