Knowledge Management Intern for World TVET Database

Deadline of application - 14 May 2016

Duration of Internship - 3 to 6 months

Background

The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Bonn is looking for an intern to assist with the management and development of the World TVET Database.

The TVET Database is an online repository providing concise, reliable and up-to-date information on TVET systems around the world. Country reports provide descriptive information on, amongst other things, TVET strategies and legislation, education systems, governance and finance, qualifications and reforms and challenges.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Assistant for Knowledge Management, the intern will perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct desk research, update and compile country reports on TVET systems in different UNESCO member states;
  • Assist with validating country reports by liaising with TVET stakeholders, officials of members states and international agencies;
  • Work together with staff to identify opportunities to compile new country reports;
  • Support the Programme Assistant with improving the day-to-day management of the World TVET Database and the country reports by providing input and developing an online survey to be communicated with TVET stakeholders;
  • Assist with any other activities related to UNESCO-UNEVOC’s online services and UNEVOC Network.
  • Any other task as assigned

Required qualifications and experience

Education

  • Currently enrolled in postgraduate studies (e.g. Masters) in a relevant discipline e.g. education, sociology, public management, international relations, political science, social sciences etc.
Experience

  • Experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative desk research; and
  • Interest or experience in the field of education, TVET is advantageous.
Skills

  • Proficient computer skills including the use of standard software office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and internet browsers;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently;
  • Very good communication and organization skills;
  • Good analytical skills and willingness to learn; and
  • Ability to work and cooperate in an international and multicultural environment.
Language

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is compulsory. Knowledge of other UN languages would be an asset (in particular Arabic, French or Spanish).
