Knowledge management and development intern

Background

The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Bonn is currently looking for an intern to assist the knowledge management team. The main responsibilities will be to support the development of content for the promising practices database as well as the updating of the World TVET Database. The intern shall also provide general support on the other Knowledge Management and Development services.

The Promising Practices database and the World TVET database aim to inform and further the global debate on technical and vocational education and training (TVET). The Promising Practices database showcases projects that deploy innovative strategies to overcome local issues, thus improving access and quality of TVET. The World TVET Database consists of a set of country profiles, containing key descriptive information about the TVET system of a specific country.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the KM team, the intern shall perform the following duties and responsibilities.

Assist in:

  • Identifying promising initiatives in the field of TVET and collecting information for facilitating their review;
  • Developing short and attractive overviews of country initiatives in the field of TVET;
  • Communicating with UNEVOC Centres and stakeholders to compile and update information on a country’s TVET systems;
  • any other knowledge management activity or activities related to the programme of work of the Centre as need arises;
  • any other task as assigned.
Qualifications and experience:

  • Advanced stage of university studies (at masters level) in a relevant discipline, e.g. education, sociology, public management, international relations, political science, social sciences etc.;
  • Interest or experience in the field of international education, TVET;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is compulsory, knowledge of other UN languages would be an asset;
  • Experience in creative writing is a strong asset
  • Good research and analytical skills, willingness to learn;
  • Ability to pay attention to detail;
  • ability to work in a multi-cultural team.
