On 25 and 26 June 2014, a meeting for workshop coordinators of the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development was organized at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. In preparation for the UNESCO World Conference on ESD, which will be run from 10 to 12 November 2014 in Japan on the occasion of the end of the UN Decade of ESD, the objective of the meeting was to plan various workshop sessions that aim to mobilize stakeholders for the implementation of the Global Action programme (GAP) on ESD. As part of the upcoming event, UNEVOC will organize a session on TVET and green skills under the track ‘’Reorienting education to build a better future for All’’ along with the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD), a UNEVOC Centre.

In this context, together with Mr. Sayadaly Maudarbocus, Acting Director Corporate of MITD, Ms Kenneth Barrientos, Programme Officer at UNESCO-UNEVOC, shared the conceptual plans and the progress of the activities. UNESCO-UNEVOC and MITD are also expected to jointly lead an online discussion, which will be soon launched to engage the public in pre-workshop discussions, disseminate information about the implementation of the GAP and collect views and commitments.

The workshop was attended by more than 50 governmental and non-governmental organizations, national commissions for UNESCO, United Nations agencies and academic institutions.
