New UNEVOC Network Member in Russian Federation

Bashkir Institute of Social Technologies (branch of) the Educational Institution of Trade Unions “Academy of Labour and Social Relations”

The Bashkir Institute of Social Technologies (branch of) the Educational Institution of Trade Unions “Academy of Labour and Social Relations” will be the fourth institution in the Russian Federation to join the UNEVOC Network.

The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre has previously collaborated with the Bashkir Institute of Social Technologies when the Institute hosted the UNEVOC CIS Regional Network meeting that took place from 29 June to 1 July 2011. During this meeting, a resolution was adopted by the participants to establish a UNEVOC Centre in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russian Federation). The Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Committee of Bashkortostan for UNESCO, in assistance with the UNESCO Office in Moscow and the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, proposed the Bashkir Institute as UNEVOC Centre and actively supported its nomination. According to Ms. Zugura Rakhmatullina, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Chairman of the Committee of the Republic of Bashkortostan for UNESCO: “Establishment of a UNEVOC centre is of crucial importance for Bashkortostan, as its authorities take numerous measures to further develop and improve vocational education and training in the region.”

The aim of the Centre is to further develop the policy and practice of vocational education, which will contribute to educating specialists who can demonstrate a high level of key professional and cultural competences required by modern society. In 2008, the Bashkir Institute of Social Technologies acquired the status of Resource Scientific and Educational UNESCO Centre of the Republic of Bashkortostan. It has implemented joint projects with the associated UNESCO schools, organized and carried out International Scientific Conferences and (online) roundtables, seminars and trainings for school teachers and TVET teachers.
