UNESCO-UNEVOC attends conference on cooperation for sustainable development

From 13 to 14 May 2013, Katerina Ananiadou, Programme Specialist at UNESCO-UNEVOC participated in a conference on Improving the mechanisms of cooperation between UNESCO ASPnet, UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs and UNEVOC Centres for Sustainable Development: Challenges, Projects, Prospects, co-organized by the UNESCO IITE, the UNESCO Moscow Office, the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Coordination Committee of UNESCO Chairs of the Russian Federation, and the University of Management TISBI. Hosted by the University of Management TISBI, the conference aimed at discussing the outcomes of the pilot project ‘Learning for the Future’, organized by UNESCO IITE and UNESCO ASPnet in Russia, and explored further cooperation mechanisms between different UNESCO structures and networks in the country and region, and more specifically between UNESCO Chairs, ASPnet schools and UNEVOC Centres.

In the opening ceremony, Ms Ananiadou delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC, in which she stressed the importance of TVET in addressing global challenges, as well as the role of partnerships and networks in achieving common goals. Ms Ananadiou also presented an overview of UNEVOC's activities during a session on 'the effective mechanisms of cooperation between UNESCO ASPNet, UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs and UNEVOC Centres', in which she highlighted current Network activities, including the streamlining of the Network, as well as UNEVOC’s work in the area of knowledge sharing.
