UNEVOC Centre organizes national skills competition

In order to encourage and motivate youth of Pakistan to acquire skills and training in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), NAVTTC organized a “National Skills Competitions” across Pakistan in all four Provinces and all Regions within the Provinces. TVET students participated with much enthusiasm and exhibited their Skills in 10 diversified trades including plumbing, refrigeration (air conditioner), welding, beautician, dress making, hospitality, general electrician, web development, auto-cad and graphic designing. In all, thousands of TVET students participated displaying their abilities and skills and the winners were awarded cash prize award of PKR 20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 each.

On this occasion, Zulfiqar Cheema said that Pakistan’s human capital, and particularly that of our youth, contains the greatest potential yet to be tapped. Zulfiqar Cheema highlighted that skills development was the only path to overcome unemployment and poverty alleviation, and by prioritizing technical and vocational skills development, that Pakistan can make its youth useful and productive citizens.
