Visit of Maltese Education Minister to UNEVOC

A delegation from Malta visited UNESCO-UNEVOC on 10 February 2015. The delegation was led by the Minister of Education and Employment (MEDE) Evarist Bartolo and the Ambassador of Malta to Germany, Albert Friggieri. The team from MEDE was joined by representatives from the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST), a UNEVOC Centre, and St Patrick’s School.

The visit aimed to establish closer contact with UNESCO-UNEVOC and explore opportunities for cooperation in the field of technical and vocational education and training.

The Government of Malta has been strengthening its education and training system by opening up more vocational pathways and by reaching out to those that had previously been unreached. The goal is to provide the young people of Malta not only with skills for employability, but also to build a vocational education system that prepares its students for global citizenship and contributes to social justice.
