A Come-Back to the Development Agenda?

A 60 minutes meeting on “Vocational Education and Training: A Come-back to the Development Agenda?” took place on 14 October 2008 at UNESCO Headquarters. Organised by UNESCO-UNEVOC, the meeting focused on the role of TVET in providing knowledge and skills that support economic development and enable people to improve the quality of their daily lives. The work of the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre was also introduced. Roughly 70 UNESCO staff members and delegates to the UNESCO Executive Board attended the meeting.

The weekly “60 minutes” meetings at UNESCO Headquarters, established in 2005, are an opportunity for information sharing, discussion and debate on key issues related to UNESCO and its work. They are open to UNESCO staff members, Permanent Delegations and UNESCO partners, and deal with a wide range of topics, activities and programmes, as well as the UNESCO structures. The topic of the 60 minutes meeting on 14 October 2008 was technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and the work of the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre.
