Dear readers,
Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is a key driver in enhancing the labour market outcomes and social integration of marginalized groups. TVET is also well placed to enable the shift from precarious livelihoods and employment situations to a decent future of work.
The UNESCO strategy for TVET (2022-2029) has a just transition as the cornerstone of its work. One of the Strategy’s main lines of action focuses on developing skills for inclusive and peaceful societies. This involves equipping learners with the knowledge, values, skills and attitudes needed to understand their rights and build fair economies and societies.
Inclusive TVET is a necessity for a world facing complex challenges. Our work in the last quarter has centred on empowering youth to meet these challenges, improving access to quality skills training for marginalized groups and developing solutions for the green and digital transition.
By embracing inclusivity, keeping pace with industry demands and fostering a culture of lifelong learning, TVET can empower individuals to build a just and sustainable future.
Best wishes from the UNESCO-UNEVOC team
