BackgroundUNESCO-UNEVOC and its Global Network
The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre was set up by UNESCO in 2000 as a result of the 1999 UNESCO General Conference concerning the development and improvement of technical and vocational education and training. Subsequently, an agreement was signed between UNESCO and the Government of Germany to establish the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre in Bonn, Germany. The establishment of the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre in part fulfilled the recommendations of the Second International Congress on TVE (1999), especially the one reading thus: “… The UNEVOC Network should be strengthened. Member States are encouraged to continue to underpin regional and national Centres which are essential vehicles for the achievement of the new vision for TVE in the twenty-first century.
