Terms and conditions

Agreement

At the time of entry, entrants are deemed to have read, understood and be in agreement with all rules and conditions. The organizer reserves the right to rule on any issue(s) not covered by these terms and conditions. In the event that an entrant should disagree with any decision made by the organizer, that entrant will have the right to withdraw his or her entry. All related expenses incurred shall be borne solely by the entrant. The materials submitted to the competition will not be returned.

Judging

The judges consist of senior UNESCO staff members and UNESCO-UNEVOC communications staff.

  • Submissions will be reviewed on the basis of the following criteria:
    • Originality: entrant has demonstrated an innovative and creative perspective on his/her skills
    • Inspiration: entrant is able to demonstrate leadership skills and inspires others to promote positive change.
    • Impact: entrant is able to demonstrate improvements for the individual and community
    • Sustainability: Entrant shows commitment to promoting sustainable development

Eligibility

  • Entrants should be between the age of 15 and 35 years.
  • Entry is free of charge but any costs related to entry and participation are to be borne by the individual who submitted the form
  • Participation is limited to one entry per person
  • Entries must be sent using the formats provided and sent to correct email addresses until 31 October 2014.

Winner Disqualification

  • If a winner cannot be reached after a reasonable amount of effort has been made to notify the winner of the prize, the winner forfeits his/her rights to the prize.
  • If a winner does not get in touch with the prize sponsor(s) within 30 days of winning, the winner forfeits his/her prize.
  • Anyone using fraudulent means to participate or win the contest will be disqualified.

Entry Releases

  • Entries will be reviewed by the organizers, and only those that meet a certain standard and pass the preliminary screening will be nominated and published on the UNESCO-UNEVOC website.
  • If you are to use any materials published by an outside party, you must obtain explicit written permission for the use of such material in your video. Please provide the organizer with proof of permission upon your submission.
  • Entry constitutes permission to use submissions on the UNESCO-UNEVOC website and its affiliated websites without further compensation. Furthermore, by submitting the form you give permission to archive your information indefinitely on any webpage on this website and in any information materials.
  • Entrants agree that the sole and final judgment as to all matters concerning the award and interpretation of the rules are at the sole discretion of UNESCO-UNEVOC.
  • Prizes cannot be converted into cash prizes

Responsibility

The organizer is not responsible for any damage or loss that may occur during the sending of entries via the Internet or post. The organizer is not responsible for any problems or damages experienced by the entrant due to forces beyond the control of the organizer, such as but not limited to troubles relating to computer networks, computer virus infections or unauthorized computer access. The candidates are responsible for their own insurance against all eventualities arising from participating in or completing any assignment linked to the "Skills in Action Award", however caused. The organizers accept no responsibility or liability for personal injury or any other accident. Except in proven cases of malice or gross negligence, the organizer is not responsible for any unfortunate or unwelcome occurrences and/or damages that may befall entrants as a result of entry to the contest. These terms and conditions are subject to change without prior notification.
