On 13 July 2006, Professor Charles Hopkins, UNESCO/UNU Chair on Education for Sustainable Development at York University, Toronto, Canada, delivered a seminar on “The Role of TVET in Pursuit of a Sustainable Future”. The lecture took place at the new UNESCO-UNEVOC premises.
In his capacity as UNESCO Chair, Prof. Hopkins has developed and continues to coordinate an international network of institutions from thirty-eight countries working on the reorientation of teacher education towards the issues inherent in sustainable development (SD).
He paid a three-day visit to UNESCO-UNEVOC to discuss potential areas of co-operation and to assist in the conceptualisation and development of projects.
